Mike, how did you do this?
I was able to accomplish my goals with Paul's motivation and guidance. |

Well, thanks man. That was a huge plug for my business. I just want everyone to know that you were not paid to say that. So, tell me how did you eat during this period?
My diet consisted of very low carbs & high protein. I started the program eating extra lean ground beef & spinach for three of my meals. My other three meals were skinless chicken breast with broccoli. My first meal of day was six egg whites with low fat cheese and half cup of pineapple. I would include a piece of fruit with my post workout meal. My last meal was a protein shake with half a banana. |

Ah, a true Ramon Gladiator. What lifestyle changes did you have to make in order to get the healthy food your body required?
The only real changes to my lifestyle were preparing meals and carrying my food bag where ever I went. I have it down to a half an hour to prepare meals, but keep in mind that, at that time, I was eating the same thing every day for 16 weeks! |

What do you tell the kid that walks up to you in the gym and asks, “So what are you taking man?”
If anyone asks me in the gym what I take I tell them that whole natural foods are the key to my success. I only “supplemented” with Omega-3, Vitamin C, and ZMA.
I trained for many years and over supplemented with protein shakes. I was Paul's best customer when he owned the supplement shop. I would go through a case Myoplex a week. I drank them 4 to 5 times a day with only one real meal which was usually from a restaurant since I work long hours. |

Yes, ditch the witches’ brew. What types of exercise were you doing & how often did you train?
I used a combination of intense training and a strict diet. Most of the training was multiple body part (compound movements) super sets with very short rest times two minutes or less. |

So basically, you just busted your butt. Nice. Tell me about the chunk missing from your leg. What happened?
I was in a motorcycle accident. I hit a fence. My front wheel hit and broke a fence post and my right leg snagged on the broken post. An 18” piece of redwood went completely through my leg. It shattered my femur. I spent three months in the hospital and I have two 8 inch plates and about 40 screws in that leg. I was told to expect arthritis as I aged. I haven’t had any. Paul put a ½ inch mat under that leg when we squatted or dead lifted, but I just train on it regardless. |

Thank you for the interview Mike. Your story is very inspirational. It is amazing what can happen when motivated people decide to make a change. I love it. Is there anything you would like to add?
You had a dream to create a business that you could be truly passionate about; one that changes people’s lives. I tell you all the time how envious I am of how much you love what you do and how you get paid way too much money for doing it! Ha, ha, that last part was a joke. You earn every bit! |
